The City Rescue Mission of Lansing is a 501(c)3, Christian ministry founded in and still serving Michigan's capital area.
Our mission is to meet physical needs for Food and Shelter to bring those with spiritual needs the Hope that is found in Jesus Christ.
Our vision is to bring the lost to the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish believers in the Christian faith.
The City Rescue Mission of Lansing was founded in 1911 by Thomas and Emily Dolton.
As the world plunged into an economic depression, Thomas and Emily opened a "soup kitchen."
As the need for shelter continued to grow, the Mission opened its first overnight dorm for men.
With the continued breakdown of the family, the Mission created a safe haven to shelter women and their children.
As local need continued to increase, the Mission opened a drop-in center for those living on the streets.
